Sleman tahun 2007 (20 Mei) mendapat sambutan antusias dari masyarakat. Kirab tersebut mengandung maksud mengajak masyarakat setempat untuk menghargai sejarah daerahnya, sehingga menumbuhkan semangat untuk membangun daerahnya dan memperbaiki kinerja.

budaya “Bedhol Projo” ini berlangsung semarak dan disaksikan ribuan warga Sleman dan sekitarnya. Setelah melakukan prosesi “Bedhol Projo” di Petilasan Ambarukmo, 11 Bregada prajurit memulai pawai kirab dari area parkir Monumen Jogja Kembali (Monjali) menuju ke Lapangan Denggung yang diawali oleh Prajurit dari Kraton Yogyakarta.
Di lapangan tersebut, masing-masing bregada prajurit mengikuti lomba dan unjuk kebolehan. Bregada Prajurit yang mengikuti lomba adalah Bregada Pangesthi Jawi dari Kaliurang, Bregada Tunggul Arum dari Wonokerto (Turi), Bregada Tunggul Wulung dari Minggir, Bregada Bregas dari Seyegan, Bregada Bathok Bolu dari Kalasan, Bregada Kalijaga dari Seyegan, Bregada Bremoro Geni dari Dowangan Gamping, Bregada Kalirase dari Medari, Bregada Wonolelo dari Ngemplak dan Bregada BSW dari Mejing Gamping.

Sleman Ke-91 yang melakukan tradisi “Bedhol Projo” dari Ambarukmo hingga Denggung Tridadi, terdapat acara yang ikut terangkai menjadi satu kesatuan dalam event tersebut, yaitu Festival Prajurit Tradisional sekabupaten
Sleman. Acara diawali dengan peringatan “Bedhol Projo” yang menggambarkan pindahnya pusat pemerintahan
Sleman dari Komplek Ambarukmo pada tahun 1964 ke Tridadi,
Sleman.
Sementara itu Festival Prajurit Tradisional yang mengambil
start di Monumen Jogja Kembali diikuti oleh 12 kelompok termasuk prajurit dari Kraton Yogyakarta, yaitu Bregada BSW Mejing, Bregas, Bathok Bolu, Wonolela, Tunggul Arum, Kalijaga, Tunggul Wulung, Kapten Hariyadi, Pangesthi Jawi, Kalirase dan Bremoro Geni Dowangan.
Animo dan antusias masyarakat Sleman terhadap festival ini begitu baik. Hal ini terlihat dari jumlah penonton yang memadati Lapangan Denggung demi melihat keahlian dari masing-masing bregada dalam festival tersebut.

budaya dari Ambarukmo menuju lapangan Denggung. Rute ini merupakan napak tilas sejarah. Sebab cikal bakal Kabupaten
Sleman adalah di Ambarukmo.
Dalam kirab ini, dokumen-dokumen sejarah ikut dibawa serta dari Pendopo Ambarukmo menuju ke Denggung yang sebelumnya telah diadakan selamatan yang
dilakukan oleh peserta kirab.
Dari Ambarukmo, peserta kirab yang sebagian naik andong dan jalan kaki ini menyusuri Jalan Adisucipto, Gejayan, Ring Road dan menuju ke Monumen Jogja Kembali. Di tempat itu sudah menunggu para prajurit tradisional dari kelompok-kelompok tradisi masyarakat diantaranya Prajurit Kraton Yogyakarta, Bremoro Geni Dowangan, Prajurit Bregas, BSW Mejing, dan Tunggul Arum yang selanjutnya bergabung menuju ke lapangan Denggung.

Bregada Bremoro Geni dibentuk dikhususkan untuk mengikuti even tradisional khususnya dan nasional umumnya baik acara Upacara Adat Tradisi maupun kirab budaya. Namun dalam perjalanannya, bregada Bremoro Geni juga melayani sebagai Pasukan Pengiring Manten (Perayaan Nikah) maupun penyambutan Tamu Kehormatan.

Cuaca boleh tak bersahabat, namun perayaan hari jadi kabupaten tercinta tak boleh dilewatkan begitu saja. Mungkin karena motivasi ini, selama hampir dua jam, para pendukung acara Puncak Hari Jadi Ke-91 Kabupaten
Sleman (15 Mei 2007) tetap setia berada di Lapangan Denggung meski hujan tak kunjung henti.
Sekitar pukul 15.00, para prajurit tradisional sudah bersiap di Pendapa Parasamnya Kabupaten
Sleman. Ketika hujan deras mulai mereda, kirabpun diberangkatkan menjuju Lapangan Denggung. Prosesi kirab didahului dengan penyerahan tombak Kiai Turunsih dari Sekretaris Daerah Kabupaten Sleman Sutrisno kepada Kepala Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Dwi Supriyatno, untuk selanjutnya diserahkan pada prajurit Pembawa Pusaka.

kirab pusaka ini, diantaranya Prajurit Bregas, Kalijogo, Bremoro Geni Dowangan dan Tunggul Arum. Mereka berasal dari kelompok-kelompok tradisi masyarakat yang ada di Kabupaten Sleman. Dengan kekhasan busana Jawa dalam aneka warna, mereka memeriahkan suasana kirab. Bunyi-bunyian yang ditabuh dari perpaduan alat musik tradisional seperti kenong, gong, berpadu dengan alat musik modern seperti drum dan terompet. Tiap bregada membunyikan musiknya sendiri sehingga kirab semakin semarak.
Meski hujan deras kembali turun tak lama sesudah pusaka keluar dari Pendapa Parasamnya, kirab tetap dilanjutkan. Masyarakat sekitarpun antusias menunggu kedatangan kirab di Lapangan Denggung. Apalagi, pertunjukan aeromodeling dan drum band yang digelar sebelumnya cukup meriah.
Perayaan ulang tahun ke-91 ini, gajah ditampilkan dalam bentuk lain, yaitu diperankan oleh seniman dalam pementasan Sumilaking Pedhet Salimar. Pementasan tari ini mencaritakan bagaimana kedamaian di hutan Salimar yang banyak dihuni gajah terpecah ketika muncul kelompok-kelompok pengacau. Akan tetapi, ketika konflik teratasi, Salimarpun kembali damai.
Pementasan seni ini merepresentasikan hamparan masyarakat Sleman. Bagaimanapun sulitnya kondisi yang dihadapi, dengan usaha keras mereka akan mampu mengatasinya dan memperoleh kesejahteraan.
Ingin mendekatkan masyarakat umum dan generasi muda pada lokalitas dan identitas Kabupaten Sleman, panitiapun menggelar keseluruhan acara dalam bahasa Jawa, termasuk didalamnya sambutan Gubernur DIY Sultan Hamengku Buwono X yang dibacakan oleh Wakil Gubernur DIY Paku Alam IX. Diluar para tamu undangan, prajurit tradisional, dan kelompok seni yang berpakaian Jawa, mungkin hanya kelompok drum band dan penonton yang tidak mengenakan pakaian Jawa. Kentalnya nuansa budaya Jawa yang cukup menyejukkan di tengah perkembangan arus globalisasi yang saat ini begitu deras di Kabupaten Sleman.

Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat merupakan salah satu kerajaan yang masih ada di Indonesia. Namun keberadaan kerajaan-kerajaan dengan segala adat tradisinya tersebut masih banyak mengalami pasang surut karena telah banyak masuknya budaya asing, begitu juga daerah-daerah di dalam wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY).
Di era Globalisasi ditandai dengan kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, juga membawa perubahan sikap tingkah laku kehidupan bangsa yang mengarah ke gaya hidup konsumeritis dan indifidualisme dalam melaksanakan aktivitasnya sehari-hari baik waktu, tenaga serta biaya yang dikeluarkan. Bahkan kemerosotan bangsa semakin tampak nyata. Tidak terkecuali dengan kehidupan Seni Budaya kita yang semakin terhimpit, tersingkir bahkan diambang kepunahan dengan masuknya beragam budaya asing ke dalam bangsa kita. Pada aspek ini (seni budaya) merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting dan mendasar, karena di dalamnya merupakan tolok ukur moralitas dan identitas suatu bangsa.
Hal tersebut semakin lama banyak disadari oleh masyarakat, mereka mulai bangkit kembali melestarikan apa yang dulu sudah pernah ada, misalnya saja tradisi-tradisi adat. Kehidupan budaya tradisional tersebut bila dilestarikan dan dikembangkan dengan sungguh-sungguh akan menjadikan daya tarik tersendiri, Indonesia akan menjadi bangsa yang maju dan berbudaya, bahkan keberadaan budaya tradisional tersebut dapat mendatangkan income tersendiri.
Melihat fenomena yang terjadi tersebut, pemuda Dowangan sebagai generasi penerus bangsa, merasa tergugah dan termotivasi untuk menghidupkan dan memupuk kembali tradisi seni budaya kita. Kesadaran yang kuat menjadikan warga Dowangan bangkit untuk melestarikan dan mengembangkan adat tradisi yang ada. Padukuhan Dowangan tepatnya, Kelurahan Banyuraden, Kecamatan Gamping Kabupaten Sleman, Kota Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu dari sekian banyak padukuhan yang giat melestarikan dan mengembangkan budaya tradisional (budaya Jawa). Berangkat dari tekad tersebutlah, maka pada hari Minggu tanggal 28 Januari 2007 pemuda Dowangan membentuk suatu wadah kegiatan yang bertujuan menampung berbagai kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan tradisi seni budaya kita, yang diberi nama Paguyuban Seni dan Budaya “ B R E M A R A M U D A “.
Nama “BREMARA” (BREMORO) itu sendiri diambil dari bahasa Kawi (Jawa Kuno) yang berarti Lebah (Tawon). Dipakai nama “BREMARA” karena seperti yang telah kita ketahui bahwa filosofi Lebah itu sendiri mempuyai nilai kerukunan, kebersamaan, kerjasama yang sangatlah baik, mereka juga bahu-membahu membangun/mencapai/menghasilkan sesuatu yang sangat berguna, yaitu Madu yang mempunyai khasiat/manfaat yang luar biasa. Sedangkan “MUDA” berarti Pemuda, yang dalam masa sekarang sebagai tulang punggung penerus bangsa. Atas dasar itulah kami memberi nama “BREMARA MUDA”
